Women in ICT sector
The National Strategy for the Empowerment of Egyptian Women 2030 included four pillars: Political empowerment, economic empowerment, social empowerment, and protection. The strategy aims at increasing women’s agency so that they can make informed choices, as well as addressing discriminatory practices and cultural stereotypes that harm women and are obstacles to their effective economic participation, and empowerment. Enhancing women’s economic participation is seen as contributing to GDP growth, and to realizing the goals of the economic pillar of Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The strategy’s aim is to achieve women’s economic empowerment through capacity development, equal employment opportunities in all areas, including the private sector, entrepreneurship, and key posts in public entities and companies. The strategy adopts a set of interventions including “ensuring women’s access to information and communications technology.”
